Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), a battle royale game, similar to the popular game Players Unknown BattleGrounds (PUBG), was launched in India in July, 2021. It was banned in July, 2022 in India citing national security concerns. Its parent company Krafton is back with the game by complying to certain rules laid down by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), as the Ministry had been monitoring the game for the past 10 months. These rules, specially mandated for users below the age of 18, will help ensure that kids don't get addicted to the game as much and play as responsibly as they can.

Krafton has revealed a strict term of service for users under the age of 18 under which there will be a set time limit, they will be able to play for only three hours a day. Also, they will be able to play only when they have consent from their parents or guardians. It is still a mystery how the company will recognize the age of the users, either it will ask for some document or will come up with some other way of age recognition. Not only for time limit but the company has also set a bar on the amount of money one can spend on the game in a day. An amount of Rs. 7000 will be the highest one can spend on the game in a day or it will vary according to the exchange rates over time.

These rules have been devised keeping in mind how addictive these forms of games are for children. The game has been relaunched in India only for 3 months and only if it complies with the rules laid out by the Ministry it will be allowed to operate full time in the country i.e. if it adheres to the issues of server locations and data security and ensures that the rules set against addiction are being followed properly or not. If the game violates any rules, it will be banned again by the government.
