The Institute for Governance, Policies & Politics (IGPP) invites applications for the position of Communication and Research Assistant. The role will involve supporting senior researchers in advancing projects focused on economy and sustainability of ports and shipping sector, history, maritime practices, river systems, cultural studies and the livelihoods of coastal communities.
1. Conduct research on economy of ports and shipping sector, historical developments, maritime traditions, blue economy and cultural practices of coastal communities.
2. Identify and collect relevant academic literature, reports, policy documents, archival material and oral histories.
3. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments at national and international levels, providing updates and analysis to internal stakeholders.
4. Assist in preparing reports, case studies, and presentations on maritime and shipping sector and cultural practices in the coastal areas.
5. Contribute to publications such as blogs, research briefs, and newsletters.
6. Work closely with mentors, project leads and cross-disciplinary teams involved in research on governance, heritage, and environmental sustainability.
• Completed post-graduation in History/ Sociology/ Development Studies/ Economics or a related field.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Strong research skills and understanding of research methods
• Familiarity with policy research, report writing, and academic referencing standards.
