Manish Tiwari
Dr. Manish Tiwari’s expertise lies at the intersection of technology, society and politics. He leads the Institute for Governance, Policies and Politics (IGPP), New Delhi, a think tank initiative of Vivek Manthana Foundation, and is Co-founder of Wranga, a digital parenting initiative.
A sociologist by training, Dr. Tiwari has delved into journalism, sociology and policy advocacy for over more than two decades across different institutions in India and world. He has been involved in different capacities in elections campaigns from Indian States, Indian national elections to the American elections (2016). In 2011-12, Manish travelled across the State of Uttar Pradesh to study the politics and elections and co-authored a book ‘Battleground UP: Politics in the Land of Ram’ with Rajan Pandey which was published by Tranquebar Westland in 2013. Since 2013, Manish has worked on election campaigns with a leading political party in the States of Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and Bihar, where he was involved deeply into planning and execution of ground research, campaigns and setting up of war rooms.
Dr. Tiwari has also done a short course in ‘Water Diplomacy – International Negotiation’ organized by Tufts University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard Law School in Boston in 2014. Manish has co-edited a book on Participatory Democracy with Prof. Anand Kumar (published by Rawat Publications) in 2009. He has done schooling, graduation (Economics Honors) and post graduation in Philosophy and Sociology from Ajmer, where he grew up, and MPhil and PhD in Environmental and Political Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
